Communication
Strong communication between home and school is an important part of supporting our students. At Inglis Street, we value our partnership with families and are committed to communication that is clear, respectful, and focused on helping every child be successful.
When You Have a Question or Concern
We encourage families to reach out when questions or concerns arise. Your child’s teacher should be the first point of contact for questions or concerns related to the classroom, learning, or your child’s experience at school. Teachers know their students well, and in most cases, a conversation between home and school is the quickest and most effective way to answer a question, address a concern, or determine next steps.
If additional support is needed following that conversation, families are welcome to connect with the school administration. We are happy to work alongside families and staff to support a positive path forward.
How We Communicate
Throughout the year, families can expect communication through:
- School newsletters for important dates, events, reminders, and school-wide updates
- Email and SchoolMessenger for school and classroom communication
- Phone calls and meetings when a conversation is the best way to share information, problem-solve, or address a concern.
- The Inglis Street Parent/Guardian Handbook for school routines, procedures, and other important information
- Our school website for school information, calendars, and resources
Teachers will also communicate directly with families throughout the year about classroom learning, upcoming activities, and student progress.
When something is more complex or sensitive, a phone call or meeting is often the best way to connect. Our goal is to keep communication open, respectful, and focused on working together in the best interests of our students.
Keeping Your Information Current
Having accurate family contact information is essential, particularly in the event of an emergency. Families are asked to ensure that phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, and other important information remain current throughout the school year.
